No batter had more strikes called against him that were out of the strike zone than Matt Carpenter
who had 157 last season.

Nine to Know: From the Bill Chuck Files – 12/13/15

1. Chris Davis and Chris Carter must hate Mondays – they each walked nine times and struck out 26 times; Davis hit .193 on Mondays in 2015, while Carter just .096.
2. In 2015, Dallas Keuchel had 25 PA with the bases loaded, the most of any pitcher in baseball; he held batters to a .190 BAA and did not allow a slam.
3. In 2015, Kris Bryant led the majors striking out 17 times with a runner on third and less than two outs.
4. Over the last five seasons, 26 pitchers have made 150+ starts, amongst them the only ones with above 4.00 ERA: Jeremy Guthrie 4.56 and Rick Porcello 4.37.*
5. Ian Kennedy and James Shields each allowed 19 homers at home in San Diego last season, the most for the Padres at home since Brett Tomko in 2002 and Kevin Jarvis in 2001 each allowed 19.

8. Jeff Samardzija has had four consecutive seasons of exactly 13 losses, only Jim Kaat and Doc White had five 13-loss seasons in their careers.
9. Over the last two seasons, Edwin Encarnacion and Chris Davis have each hit 73 homers; Encarnacion has 180 Ks and Davis 381 whiffs.*
